Effective July 1, 2007, Carol Tecla Christ, 63, president of Smith College, has been elected to the board of directors of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. Ms. Christ has been named to the Public Policy and Responsibility committee of the board.

A press release announcing Ms. Christ’s election was issued on July 2, 2007. A copy is filed as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K.
